FIRST NATIONAL BANK, 1931
Anxious depositors line up outside Toledo's First National Bank on Summit St. in August, 1931, when three local banks failed; First National survived that scare but failed in March, 1933, during a national bank holiday ordered by President Franklin D. Roosevelt.
Shoppers throng to the Tiedtke's Department Store building on September 27, 1953 at Summit Street and Adams in downtown Toledo. Tiedtke's would be destroyed by fire on May 7, 1975, the very same night the Toledo Goaldiggers won their first Turner's Cup championship.

Record-breaking Bullet Train shoot thru Toledo. Shattering all records for a transcontinental rail speed dash, the Union Pacific's bullet-nosed, fin-tailed, Diesel-powered, streamlined, canary and brown, aluminum alloy train flashed into the Union station Wednesday night, changed pilots, and shot eastward to New York. A crowd of several hundred men, women and children came to the station to catch a momentary glimpse of the train It arrived at 8:16pm on October 24, 1934, two minutes ahead of its own schedule. The California-to-New York run was completed in two days, eight hours and 55 minutes, more than 15 hours less than the record. Toledo News-Bee file photo dated Oct. 25, 1934. The UAW has a pensioners club, with 1,400 members, which meets once a month at Local 12 headquarters for an evening of entertainment and refreshments.
